2010-2015 - Member of the Board of Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI)
2011-2014 - Secretary General of the Department of Transport, Ireland
2002 -2009 - Secretary General of the Department of Marine & Natural Resources
2001 – 2002 - Assistant Secretary at the Department of Tourism, Sport & Recreation
1997 – 2001 - Head of the Office of the Tanaiste (Deputy Prime Minister)
1993 -1997 - Head of Press, Information and Voluntary & Community Development in the Department of Social Welfare
1987 – 1993 - Senior Management and Leadership trainer and facilitator at the Department of Public Service
1984 – 1987
During her public service career Julie also served as a board member of the Institute of Public Administration, and as a member of the National Economic & Social Council and of the Top Level Appointments Committee.
